Alliteration Labs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Local Loop News mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The App is currently available to users in the United States only.
By using Local Loop News, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We've designed Local Loop News to collect as little information as possible. Specifically, we collect:
Approximate Location Data
The App requests access to your approximate (not precise) location solely to determine your general area so we can deliver relevant severe weather alerts. Location is not requested for any other purpose, and we do not request access to any other device permissions (no contacts, camera, microphone, photos, etc.).
Device and Usage Data (Analytics)
We use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to understand general app usage patterns, such as which features are used and how often. This may include device type, operating system version, and general usage events.
Crash and Diagnostic Data
We use Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to collect crash logs and diagnostic information when the App encounters an error. This helps us identify and fix bugs.
Purchase Information
The App offers optional one-time donations and a monthly support subscription. All payments are processed entirely by Apple through Apple's In-App Purchase (IAP) system. We do not receive, collect, or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment credentials. We may receive limited, non-identifying confirmation from Apple that a purchase was completed, for the purpose of unlocking supporter features (if applicable).
2. Information We Do Not Collect
To be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not require account creation or login. There is no user authentication system.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or other directly-identifying personal information.
- We do not collect or store user-generated content, because the App does not support posting, messaging, or uploads.
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.
- We do not use any advertising networks, and we do not serve targeted ads.
- We do not sell your information to third parties.
3. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Deliver severe weather alerts relevant to your approximate location.
- Understand aggregate app usage to improve features and performance.
- Diagnose and fix crashes or technical issues.
- Process optional donations/subscriptions via Apple IAP.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on the following third-party services to operate the App:

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your information. We may share limited information with the service providers listed above solely to operate the App, or if required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or governmental request.
6. Data Retention
Analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention practices. Because we do not operate user accounts, there is no persistent user profile for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Approximate location data is used in the moment to serve weather alerts and is not stored as a personal profile.
7. Children's Privacy
Local Loop News is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at the email below so we can address it.
8. Your Privacy Rights (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, and the right to request deletion where applicable. Because Local Loop News does not collect directly-identifying personal information or maintain user accounts, there is generally no personal profile tied to you for us to provide or delete. 9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
